Filigree : Robotically Fabricated Aluminum Structures

Research into the design and robotic fabrication of modular systems - creating three dimensional forms from flat aluminum sheets. Geometrically, the system is entirely based on rectilinear strips, to reduce cutoff wate from the raw sheets. Careful control of angled and off-plane bends produce controlled volumes and approximate curves. Automatic and efficient automated fabrication is also considered for scales of many hundreds of modules.
